Men's scarves

A merino wool scarf knitted in France

A scarf is one of the few accessories worn every day for months at a time. Putting it on becomes automatic, while the piece itself remains visible. Our men’s scarves are created from pure merino wool in our workshops in the Pyrenees. Their colours echo those of our men’s beanies and berets. A fine knit that ties without creating bulk around the collar, feels soft against the skin and retains its structure season after season, without any synthetic fibres. A generous 155 × 50 cm format, available in one size.

Frequently asked questions

How should you wear a men’s scarf in winter?

Three ways, from the most structured to the most relaxed.

The Parisian knot: fold the scarf in half, place it around the neck and pass the ends through the loop. Quick and secure, it stays in place throughout the day and fits beneath a coat collar without creating extra bulk.

The double wrap winds the knit close to the neck and shortens the ends. It provides the greatest coverage, making it ideal for cold days and long waits on a railway platform.

The draped style, with the scarf open around the neck and the ends left loose, is the most relaxed. It works well with an open jacket or unbuttoned coat.

At 50 cm wide, the scarf can also be folded lengthways before being tied. This gives it more structure and allows it to fit more easily beneath a parka.

Which material should you choose for a men’s scarf?

Cotton and linen make good between-season scarves: lightweight and breathable, but offering little warmth. A silk scarf adds character to a shirt collar in spring. Cashmere is the softest option, but also the most expensive and the most vulnerable to friction against a collar.

For winter, wool remains the best protection against the cold. Merino wool offers an additional advantage in a scarf: the fineness of its fibres. Thick wool creates bulk around the knot, which can feel uncomfortable beneath a buttoned coat and distort the line of the shoulders. Merino wool remains fine enough to lie flat when tied while providing just as much insulation.

It also feels soft against the skin, even with short stubble, and can be kept on indoors without feeling too warm.

How do you choose a men’s scarf?

Three criteria: length, colour and pattern.

Length comes first. At 155 cm, the scarf can be tied in a Parisian knot with the ends falling to mid-torso, without extending beyond a short jacket.

Then comes colour. Black, dark grey and Laulhère blue work with everything, from a navy coat to a khaki parka. Burgundy or sand brings warmth to a brown or beige coat without overdoing it.

Finally, the pattern. Checked, striped and printed scarves return each season; a plain scarf remains the easiest to pair with a patterned jacket and the one you are most likely to keep for longer. This is the choice we have made for our collection.

Men’s scarf or snood: which should you choose?

A scarf can be tied and readjusted. This is what makes it so versatile: several ways to wear it, more or less fabric around the neck depending on the temperature, and the option of loosening it without taking it off.

A men’s snood forms a closed loop. Simply slip it over the head and it stays in place, with no loose ends extending beyond a coat and no knot to come undone. It is the practical choice for active journeys, particularly when cycling.

Many of our customers own both.

How do you coordinate a men’s scarf with your wardrobe?

Our colours echo one another across different product families. A men’s scarf and a pair of men’s mittens can be matched exactly or deliberately combined in contrasting shades.

Several colours can also be found across our berets and men’s caps, allowing you to create a coherent look from head to shoulders without appearing overly coordinated.
